Mladen Miljanović

Operation Hungary

Venue: acb Attachment
Date: Apr 24 – Jun 04, 2015

The program is organized within the framework of the OFF-Biennale Budapest.

Mladen Miljanović's latest project realized in the frame of OFF-Biennale Budapest will be presented in acb Attachment.

In the painting named "Operation Hungary", Miljanović uses a strategy of simulation in mapping a potential route of “art occupation” towards Hungary with military iconography. He frames the work as a “top-secret operation”, making plans on how to achieve infiltration in the Hungarian cultural system intersecting it at the same time.  According to this, part of the work is Miljanović’s own description of discourse:

”Operation Hungary is possible modus operandi of a Bosnian Serb artist who gains exhibition and occupies cultural systems of attacked areas. This work consists of a multi-media strategy used in simulating Art attacks with virtual invasion in an institutional gallery. My military education experience (infantry sergeant) is applied in the field of culture where artistic projects are at the same time aware of strategic projects well.”

The program is organised within the framework of the Check Your Head! project of the OFF-Biennale Budapest. Curators of the project:  Nikolett Erőss, Anna Juhász, Hajnalka Somogyi, Tijana Stepanovic, Borbála Szalai, Katalin Székely, János Szoboszlai.

The exhibition is on view between 24 April and 4 June 2015.
