Description
Tamás Komoróczky (1963) who in the past years, has structured his recent shows in thematic cycles now appears again with a solo exhibition in acb Gallery. Komoróczky specialised in creating ephemeral installations, and his huge complex and interconnected environment in acb can also be interpreted as one large-scale piece in which poetry, philosophy, sculpture, painting and video-art interact with each other.
Komoróczky graduated at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts as a painter in 1990, later he was guest student of the video class at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf. The artist was one of the founders and members of the legendary Újlak Group in 1989, known for squatting numerous spaces in Budapest with their exhibitions. Komoróczky’s most important international exhibition was probably the Venice Biennale in 2001, where he represented Hungary with his works in the National Pavilion. In the past decade the artist had bigger scale solo exhibitions at Budapest Gallery, Trafó Gallery and m21 in Pécs, and was also part of the group exhibition Abstract Hungary in Halle für Kunst Steiermark in Graz.
