Endre Tót

If the Berlin Wind Blows My Flag video interview

On the occasion of the collaborative project and three-chapter exhibition If the Berlin Wind Blows My Flag. Art and Internationalism before the Fall of the Berlin Wall (Sep 14, 2023 – Jan 14, 2024), we interviewed the Berlin-based Hungarian visual and conceptual artist Endre Tót. In the video, he is filmed in front of his large-scale wall installation and talks about his experiences and memories as a former participant of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program in 1979.

The project is a collaboration of three Berlin-based art institutions: the daadgalerie, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.), and Galerie im Körnerpark, accompanied by events at Akademie der Künste. The title of the three-chapter exhibition is a quote from Endre Tót's eponymous artist interventions in public space he realized during his DAAD residency.

Besides Endre Tót, Galerie im Körnerpark hosted the first German solo exhibition since 1979 of the Hungarian-born American artist Agnes Denes (also represented by acb Gallery), retracing the artist's original ideas for a residency that never materialized.
