acb Gallery presents a solo booth of Endre Tót (b. 1937), a pioneer of mail art, and Eastern European conceptualism. Emerging from Cold War Hungary, Tót abandoned painting for radical strategies built around his trademark ideas of typed rain, zeros and Gladnesses in the early 1970s. His exceptional mail art questionnaires, enabled playful, poetic and existential exchanges across borders and continents with such artists as Robert Filliou, Lawrence Weiner, Meret Oppenheim and Daniel Spoerri among others. The gallery is planning to showcase a selection of Tót’s correspondances ont he booth wall from 1974 to 1978, sent out partly from his Budapest home and also plans to launch a new book on this body of work on site at the fair.
