WORKS BY THE PÉCS WORKSHOP PRESENTED IN ANTWERP
Philippe Piessens shows works of Pécs Workshop, the Hungarian neo-avant-garde art group that had been active between 1968-1980. The artworks by Ferenc Ficzek, Károly Hopp-Halász, Károly Kismányoky and Sándor Pincehelyi give an overview of the group's multidsciplinary work, experimental endevaours and joint projects, showing pieces from their early geometrical period and their lens-based, conceptual practices. Ferenc Lantos's works accompany the presentation of the Pécs Workshop, showing the master's influence on his apprentices' burnt enamel-works.

ACB GALLERY AT FRIEZE NEW YORK
acb Gallery presents works by Imre Bak (b. 1939) in Spotlight's section SP26 booth.
The presentation at Frieze NY focusses on the period spanning from 1967 to 1974, when two groups of works determining Imre Bak’s subsequent career unfolded. In the footsteps of American minimalist and hard edge painting, his image-objects composed of stripes and fields of intense colors led Bak to examine visual representation as a construction. By studying the semiotics of shapes and colors and their representational potential, he arrived to conceptual art, which directed his painterly focus to the analysis of the combination of basic geometric motifs.
