Description
Sinners is the first solo show in Hungary by Karol Radziszewski, one of the most prominent figures in Central and Eastern European queer art. Developed in collaboration with curator Gyula Muskovics, the exhibition offers a glimpse into Budapest’s queer past and present. The exhibited paintings, photographs, and archival materials bring to light people and stories that move beyond heteronormative social frameworks—narratives that, in the eyes of some, may still be considered “sinful” today.
As part of the exhibition, the fifteenth issue of Radziszewski’s queer magazine, DIK Fagazine will also be produced. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the magazine’s previous editions have explored the queer and homo cultures of Central and Eastern European cities including Warsaw, Bucharest, Minsk, Kyiv, and Vienna. The Budapest Issue traces a broad historical arc, from the art of the fin de siècle through the underground clubs and secret meeting places of the 1980s, to the emergence of LGBTQ+ activism and the city’s contemporary scene today.
The launch of DIK Fagazine #15: Budapest Issue will take place in mid-November.
